With divination we need practise material:
Divination is no fun when it is all about auntie Ann's new job or a new lover.
Considering that USA and UK are building up stocks in Tamiflu at the moment ,
France and Germany are talking precautions and there is the cluster of human infections in China,
besides countless ducks, geese ,pigs and even tigers in the Bangkok zoo -
I thought that this would make a good divination theme:

Q: Will it come to a panepidemic reaching Europe this year ?
A: Using Crowley Deck, 3 cards : 4 of cups, 5 wands, 10 of swords which I interpret as no immediate threat, but reason for concern in the future.

Psychic reading: No major outburst in my country, but several more clusters of concern in others.
I see no major influence for my country.
Next year  I see less stabilty though, probably related with birds coming back after winter.
I see one hospital in the country unusual actief, with a lot of people being droven in at once. It is not one I know, so it is not in my city.    I also don't know if that is related with the above.I rather get the impression that it is not.
I also see no people walking with masks on the streets , something that one could expect.
I also see a major storm for next years. Could be the actual weather , could be symbolic for that image.
So all in all  I assume we will be fine here and all stays relatively stable.

But I would be curious what others get with the same question.

ISIS,

Ok, from the dealing hand of a squirrel comes the following 15 Card Spread (quick and dirty) using the Thoth Deck:

Card 1 - (Queret and Nature of Problem) The Fool (right back at ya Eris!)
(2 & 3 key cards describing nature of situation)
Card 2 - 9 of Cups
Card 3 - 6 of Swords (How interesting)

(cards 4, 8 12 and 13, 9 , 5 indicate 2 possible futures)

Card 4 - 8 of Swords
Card 8 - 8 of Disks
Card 12 - The Tower

Card 13 - 5 of Cups
Card 9 - 9 of Wands
Card 5 - Knight of Wands

(cards 14, 10, 6 indicates psychological basis and indications assists querent in making decisions)

Card 14 - The Hierophant
Card 10 - The Emperor
Card 6 - The Magus

(Wow!)

(cards 7, 11, 15 show forces beyond the querents control)

Card 7 -7 of Wands
Card 11 - The Sun
Card 15 - The Moon

(Yes the sun and the moon showed up right next to each other. Interesting corollary; I was listening to Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" at the time)

I hope tol post my interpertation in a bit (such as it may seem to me). However, my work with the Tarot seems rather surface level and if anyone else has thoughts, feel free to post ideas Smiley

The Fool modified by "complete success" (9 of cups) and "science"(6 of swords) seems appropriate. Of course i wonder if the querent should be supposed as I or as ISIS (since it was their question).

First possible future state (if nothing changes):
The 8 of swords seems unfortunate, most references I've found indicate bad luck, bad news or crisis.
The 8 of disks seems to indicate work and intelligence.
Finally The Tower could indicate danger or ruin, or possibly purification through fire (plausable considering the nature of the bird flu epidemic)

Second possible future (either opposed to or in conjunction with the first)
5 of cups seems bad. Disappointment, treachery, ill will, end of pleasure ick. It seems like a card of loss to me.
9 of wands looks better, success after opposition and strife.
Knight of Wands, pure fire, the male creative force... dunno

The psychological basis to assist in making decisions:
The Hierophant seems to indicate that divine wisdom or occult forces may be in line
The Emporor might indicate government involvment (probably necessary in this situation)
The Magus might be wisdom or again an appeal to occult forces?

Out of our control appear:
5 of cups perhaps victory in the end after struggle?
The Sun perhaps meaning the human non-magical approach
The Moon (...) perhaps indicating the magical approach

From all of this my initial guess would be that things may get worse, it seems like there may be some serious problems, yet they may be overcome by a combination of science/government/natural means with a side order of occult meddling.

Thoughts?

Thanks for talking up the divination question.
I hope others will too. Or propose others.

I believe  that divination of collective movements  are best done
by groups of diviners as all read possibilities.

I thought it astonishing that your reading kind of matches
the idea of worldhealth department, who has real concerns, a lot more then I have, but then I can be in denial.
8 swords, 8 discs, Tower.

Then 6 of swords = science. Last news I read, they were able to identify the little bugger that causes the trouble.
Then you had 7 players ( arcana)  , which aligns to the 7 wands beyond control.
I must say your readings with so many big players, makes me more curious of the things to come.

What Sun Moon and Pink Floyd eclipse seem to indicate that one way or another we do have to deal with a kind of rythm.
The Flu thing just might be part of that, or a portal - to get a hunch of that.
In 2006 , the big eclipse will be seen from Egypt among other countries , by the way.
So you get 8 again and an eclipse.  (just associating)
