What would be the benefits (and drawbacks?) of allowing a created servitor to contact and petition God-forms for energy/assistance?
I mean, on it's own, when it determines (and scripted instructions allow) that the action would proove beneficial to it's task.
Could this become self-automated, i.e. could you build instructions for doing so into the entity?
I've begun to see servitors a bit differently now that I've been around them more. My thinking goes this way for the moment. A servitor doesn't have to be aware or alive in the manner of the more complex servitors. Some aethereal objects seem to be much simpler. Maybe another word fits better than servitor for objects like aethereal mirrors or aethereal nets and choasattelites, chaomines and such, but we've used "servitor" for these in the past.
So what about a servitor in the form of an olive tree dedicated to Athena? Her favorite tree and most famous gift would seem a pretty agreeable way channel her power. Her influence could fill the tree with ripened fruit full of energy on which your work-a-day servitors could feast, maybe making some sort of compensatory offering to Athena at the do so.
The risk here seems to me that the servitors might begin to serve Athena more than the magician.
Other examples might include:
A cornucopia filled by Zeus
A fire fed by Ishtar
A shinning trapezohedron burning with the inchoate radiance of Azathoth
And, of course, a tree of the Hesperides filled with golden apples nurtured by Eris and protected by a nice big dragon covered in hero repellant.
